Booking railway tickets 30 minutes before the train departure- ever wonder how convenient it would be. Thanks to the Indian Railways, the dream is now true and viable for all the passengers!
The latest development in the Indian Railway system has brought happy news for all the passengers. From 12 November onwards, a passenger will now be able to book the railways tickets just 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure. Also, the Railway department is planning to implement some changes in the chart preparation module, making it more intuitive and frequent.

As per the Indian Railways, the first chart will be prepared at least four hours before the departure and the second chart will go live before the 30-minutes of scheduled departure. Not only this, the railways will also change the charges of cancellation, making it nearly doubled from the current rates. The department has made it clear that from now onwards, there will be no refund after the scheduled departure of a train. Being effective from Nov 12, the new changes will see a 30 to 60 Rs hike in the cancellation fees for second class confirmation ticket and about 180 Rs hike for third AC.
As far as the waiting list and RAC (reservation against cancellation) is concerned, the passengers would have to wait for refund till less than an hour before the train departure. If a passenger is cancelling the ticket within the 48 bracket, the cancellation fees with the rise in between 25 percent of the ticket. The revised rules with increase the cancellation charges to 50 percent within 12 hours bracket.
Apart from this, the railway department has also decided to allot the unreserved ticket counters to refund the reserved ticket.
