7 Things you can do to avoid feeling sleepy at your workplace

Our traditional beliefs have always suggested the undue importance and respect of work. As they say, “Work is worship”! The divine significance of work and the zeal for professionalism is what makes a man. Can you take your work for granted? How silly is it to feel sleepy at your work place?

You cannot afford to feel sleepy at work- it is something that your company will never expect from you! Unfortunately or fortunately, workstations are not bedrooms. No matter how much one feel sleepy, it is not an informal place to get dreamy and wanderlust. The Monday blues, the daily drowsiness, and the awaited weekends are not cool. They are neither professional nor ethically just. Get the fact straight and correct- you cannot afford to waste your company’s time (nor can your company afford the passive approach of a resource). So how are you going to deal with it? Here are some few things that can help you to avoid the sleepy cum lazy feelings at the workplace.

  1. Stay away from your phone at night:

The digital better-half i.e. you own Smartphone is keeping you away from a sound sleep. Every night, let your mind have a deep sleep by keeping your phone away from the reach. Give yourself those healthy 8 to 9 hours of sleep that the mind needs. It’s a distraction and you have to understand this fact. Stay away from it!

  1. Start Your Day fresh:

So how can you start your day fresh? The first step to start a day fresh is by giving it a deep healthy sleep. Secondly, wake up early and take a walk. Thirdly, understand the functioning of your mind. How can you make your mind peaceful? Now unravel the answer and step ahead to stay in peace. Never ever enter your office premise with a lazy mind. Now you have to know how to keep your mind fresh, healthy and hale.

  1. Switch to healthy meals:

And this has to be throughout the day! It is always intelligent to split your major meals into minute multiple meals in a day. Don’t work with a heavy stomach and choose the merits of mindful snacking. Taking intelligent eating breaks that are both mindful and quick is a good idea while working.

  1. All work and no play make jack a dull boy:

It is not possible for human beings to work effectively for straight eight to nine hours. Now that doesn’t mean that you have to convert your workstation to a playground. For intelligent working, it is always easy to find a middle way. Talk to your colleagues, grab a cup of coffee, take a phone call, etc. But don’t ever cross the limits- keep your professional ethics close and your work closer.

  1. Say no to alcohol or any form of drugs:

Alcohol has the tendency to affect your sleeping habits. If you are under the influence of drugs, you won’t be able to concentrate in work. Needless to say, the drowsiness and laziness will pervade in your working schedule. You have weekends to enjoy your personal time and space.

  1. Choose a workout regime:

As per the doctors, a quick 30-minute long brisk walk can make you active and awake. Before going to the office, take a walk. And in case you are not interested in walking, switch to some healthy alternatives like yoga.

  1. Music can keep you awake:

So in case nothing works out and you still feel sleepy, switch to music. Give yourself a well-deserving break with a soothing yet delightful musical break. I am sure it will keep you away from unnecessary drowsiness and laziness in work.
