Some Common Symptoms of the Deadly Dengue Fever

Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease that is commonly found in Asian and gulf countries. Dengue fever is highly painful and can be caused by any of the four dengue viruses. Every year, thousands get infected by Dengue. This disease is deadly in nature and if proper medical attention is not given from the beginning, the patient might not make it.

What’s surprising is that even though our medical capabilities are reaching new heights every instant, we still haven’t been able to make a medicine for Dengue fever. This makes this disease even more fatal. Dengue symptoms are extremely common and that’s one reason why people ignore them.

These symptoms include:

  • Sudden high fever
  • Pain behind eyes
  • Severe headache
  • Fatigue, nausea and vomiting
  • Joint and muscle pain
  • Skin rashes and mild bleeding from nose and/or gums

As stated earlier, Dengue symptoms are extremely common and can be easily mistook for those of a viral or a flu because of which some people decide to ignore them. Both children and adults who have never contracted the disease before tend to have a mild case than others. However, serious problems can make way in almost every case. These problems include; dengue hemorrhagic fever, damage of blood vessels, liver enlargement and failure of circulatory system. These symptoms ultimately lead to shock and death and this situation is therefore known as Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS).

So, if someone gets dengue in your home, be extremely attentive about saving others members of your family from it since mosquitoes which bite infected a family member can spread this infection to other healthy individuals.
