While facing a work delay or inefficiency, what if you could ask the government for compensation? That the government officials who are the root cause of your work delay will be penalized and the residents will be issued compensations?
Well, if Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is to believe, then the government is planning to work on the claim compensation module, making it more acceptable and convenient for the citizens. During the upcoming assembly sessions, the government departments will raise the legislation in the light to this process. It is notable that the process is not new as the idea of claiming compensation was available in the past. However, since the process was not automated, it was difficult for the citizens to choose a valid path for compensation.
How is Delhi Government trying to change the face of the situation?
CM Arvind Kejriwal highlighted the fact that there hasn’t been any compensation case against officials from past three years now. It certainly proves that the system is flawed. Through the amended law, the government will promise to deliver a certification within the first 15 days of raising a complaint. The process will be now automated, and in case the certification is not issued within 15 days, there will be an automated response on the 16th day. The compensation officials will be entirely responsible for addressing the grievance- looking at the money matter and distribution module. However, the final authority of waiving the money goes to the Minister-in-charge, added Kejriwal.
It is notable that the amended legislature will ensure both rewards as well as penalties for the officials. For those who will perform utterly well in their respective jobs will get lucrative rewards and vice versa. The compensation module will work on the basis of daily-penalty and the amount of fine will be extracted from the salaries of the accused official.
Going forward with the faster governance- kudos Delhi Government!
