One among the most widespread professional hub of India, Gurgaon won’t remain the same for certain reasons now. The dynamic suburb situated outside the Delhi reigns is undergoing a major shift as the Haryana state government has finally decided to restore the original name of Gurgaon (owing to some prominent historical reasons). For now, Gurgaon will be regarded as ‘Gurugram’ as the government has given approval to the long time pending demand of Municipal Corporation.
The Historical Clues and Chapters:
Gurgaon shares a historical background right from the time of Mahabharata. The district that is just 10 KM away from the Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi has derived its existence from the famous chapters of teacher and student relationship shared between Guru Dronacharya and the Pandavas. According to the documentation listed by the Gurgaon Government, Yudhishtra gifted the village as a token of gurudakshina to his benevolent teacher Guru Dronacharya. The actual ‘Gurgaon’ village is nearly situated 1.5 km away from the main town. With time and a number of invasions in India, the place was divided into number of parganas. As per the mythological relevance, it is believed that Guru Dronacharya resided here in an ashram along with his wife.
