We all are aware of that irritating fact of YouTube when we wished they threw less ads at us while we expected to watch our favourite videos. In fact, millions of people wish every single day that they wouldn’t have to wait long for the videos to buffer and that they could save them to watch later, however, none of that happened.
But now, realising what consumers actually want, YouTube is now launching an all new platform by the name YouTube Red on October 28 which will allow everything; from ad-free videos to the option of offline viewing along with options of playing videos on the background as stated by YouTube’s official blog. However, like all other good things in this world, this too comes at a membership price of $9.99 per month.
Though the initiative seems more like a blessing, it has its own share of complications like creators who get their cut of ad revenue will now have to sign a share deal with YouTube Red failing which the videos they put will disappear from the public view. While creators make lot of money from ad revenues, they will make more through YouTube Red. Most creators have signed their deals, but it looks like they didn’t have an option which makes YouTube look more like a bully.
This new platform will be available as a one month free trial for the people in US, while the company works on a strategy to launch it in the remaining countries as well.
