After receiving a harrowing five-run defeat at the hands of South Africa in the first ODI that was held at Sunday in Kanpur, skipper M.S. Dhoni said he was quite disappointed. He blamed the bowlers for leaking runs in the last overs of the innings, however, he also said that the team is eagerly looking forward to the second ODI which is to be held on October 14 at Indore.
He also added that a plenty of things went wrong and against the favour of the Indian team, however, they still showed the character of getting close. He also lauded Rohit and Rahane’s partnership while adding that Rohit played a fantastic innings in the match which turned out to be extremely critical for the team and though the wicket wasn’t easy to bat, he made it look a comfy one.
However, the defeat wasn’t the only blow that the team received on Sunday. Team’s frontline spinner R Ashwin who was playing his 100th ODI suffered a side strain following which he left the field. According to Dhoni, his injury is a big loss for the team because he was one of the best spinners they had. The team has, however, introduced fellow off-spinner Harbhajan Singh into the team as a precautionary measure.
The teams of India and South Africa have arrived at Indore to gear-up for Wednesday’s match. The teams landed in a special aircraft at Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport after taking-off from Lucknow.
